The global network of scientists within the IEA SHC Task 69 on Solar Hot Water for 2030 has been examining thermosiphon markets worldwide from July 2022 to March 2026. They […]
One of Central Europe’s most innovative demonstration projects for solar process heat was the destination of a technical visit offered by the German Aerospace Center (DLR) as part of the […]
Solar air collectors for building façades were first developed in Canada 37 years ago. Two of the industry’s pioneers are Conserval Engineering and Matrix Energy. Today, solar air collectors are […]
The number of experienced suppliers in the solar heat for industrial processes (SHIP) sector continues to grow. By the end of 2025, 23 companies had installed more than ten SHIP […]
In 2025, solar heat for industrial processes (SHIP) continued to be deployed across a broad range of industrial sectors, as illustrated in the chart above. Drying processes and barn heating […]
Karl-Anders Weiß has spent the past three years intensively working on the life cycle and cost assessment of alternative heating technologies. The researcher from the German institute Fraunhofer ISE has […]
Pit thermal energy storage (PTES) represents a key enabling technology in future heating networks powered by fluctuating renewable energy sources. These storage systems provide a cost-effective solution for storing surplus […]
Germany led the global PVT market in 2024, followed by the Netherlands and Spain. A total of 72,544 m² of PVT collectors were newly installed worldwide last year, representing 37.5 […]
The Solar Heat Worldwide 2025 report published by the IEA Solar Heating and Cooling Programme delivers both ─ a warning and some encouraging news. Globally, solar thermal energy in the […]
Thermosiphon systems account for more than half of the total installed solar thermal capacity worldwide (status at the end of 2022), but little is published about them. The scientists from […]
