Formation of Solar Cooling association “Green Chiller”

The solar and thermal cooling association “Green Chiller – Verband für Sorptionskälte e.V." has officially been formed in March, electing Roland Weidner, senior consultant from the German chiller manufacturer EAW GmbH, its president. Uli Jakob, director of the solar cooling division at the German system supplier Solarnext, became vice president of the Berlin-based association.
Besides the two companies, five more sorption chillers and two German research institutes are among the association’s founding members. It is assisting in organizing the 3rd International Conference Solar Air-Conditioning in Palermo, Italy that will last from the 30th of September to the 2nd of October.

At present, the German association’s main objectives are:
- • Lobbying for thermal cooling technologies in general (small and medium cooling capacity range)
• Increasing awareness of thermal cooling (publicity at fairs, etc.)
• Standardizing chiller/cooling kits as a requirement for funding
