Dear Solarthermalworld.org Reader,
Spain’s
solar associations play an important role in promoting commercial solar
thermal applications. For example, ASIT coordinates the Technology
Platform on Low Temperature Solar Thermal, Solplat, which started this
October and is supported from the Spanish Ministry of Economy. The
association has organised meetings with representatives from regional
governments to show them what they can achieve thanks to solar district
heating and to raise funds for promoting early pilot projects.
Another
organisation, Protermosolar, is the coordinator of the 2010-founded
Solar Concentra network. This network consists of 112 organisations,
from R&D centres to suppliers of solar process heat technology. One
of its working groups has identified 130 potential industrial clients
with no access to the piped natural gas grid but sufficient space for a
solar thermal installation in the south of Spain. Parts of the company
list are now being handed out to technology suppliers, whether based in
Spain or abroad, that offer concentrating solar collector solutions.
Have a good read and sunny regards
