Regulatory Framework for CST Promotion (2010)

This presentation was made during the Southern African Regional Workshop on Concentrating Solar Thermal Power that took place in Botswana in May 2010. The event was organised by the Energy Anchor (ETWEN) and the Energy Sector Management Assistance Program (ESMAP) and co-sponsored by the Ministry of Mines, Energy and Water Resources of the Government of Botswana.

The power point starts by outlining the current CST installed capacity in different countries. Then it develops in details the exiting regulatory framework for boosting CST in two groups of countries: USA and Spain in one hand and Israel, Algeria and India at another hand.

Both groups have implemented different instruments and policies: feed-in-tariffs; subsidies; tax incentives; voluntary renewable energy schemes; quotas; among others. Success of these policies and instruments has varied from country to country.
