Dear Solarthermalworld.org Reader,
Solar
thermal technology - widespread and diverse in its application – needs
flexible system integrators and outstanding protagonists to open up
markets worldwide. Only an industry convinced of its country’s solar
potential – like the one in the Ukraine (left) – will hold on to its
solar business despite consumer caution, high inflation and a legal
situation that is anything but simple. Ladakh, a high-mountain area in
northern India, has the country’s highest solar water heater density
thanks to Jigmet Takpa, Project Director at the Ladakh Renewable Energy
Development Agency (LREDA). Takpa has been the driving force behind the
fast solar thermal development in this region of high passes (middle).
Despite the lack of support in Colombia, established solar thermal
system importers, such as Gestión Integral Energética, have been
realising an increasing number of systems in the hotel and healthcare
sector. Just recently, GIE has set up a 150-collector field at Bogotá’s
Hotel Plaza (right).
Have a good read and sunny regards
