ON-RE Report: Energy Innovation in Municipal Building Codes (2009)

The Italian National Observatory on Energy Saving Building Regulations (ONRE) released this report in 2009 in co-operation with Legambiente and CRESME. European Directives like the RES 2020 or the energy efficiency in buildings have pushed local authorities to create new legislation to comply with the different targets set in the directives.

Malta: Solar Water Heaters used by half of the Households by 2020

The Malta Energy Efficiency & Renewable Energies Association (M.E.E.R.E.A.) has taken on the drafting of the roadmap to ensure the future development of renewable energy sources on the sunny island in the Mediterranean Sea. M.E.E.R.E.A. is a non-profit and non-governmental organisation established in June 2001.

France already set Targets in 2007: Great efforts to reach them

France is the frontrunner in Europe in terms of implementing political frame conditions for solar thermal technology. The government already approved the country's energy law, the so-called “Grenelle de l’Environnement“, in 2007. Richard Loyen, Secretary General of the French Solar Energy Association Enerplan, explained that the law, “more or less anticipated the implementation of the RES Directive” when he spoke during an association workshop organized by the European Solar Thermal Industry Federation (ESTIF) in Brussels last December.

Eskom Solar Water Heating Rebate Programme: Claim Process Guide (2008)

This guide was made to help consumers applying for a Eskom Solar Water Heating Rebate Programme. This rebate programme was set-up by the South African Government to increase the share of renewable energies on the final energy consumption to 10 000 gigawatt hours by 2013.

The guide includes a series of steps that should be taken into account applying for the Eskom rebate scheme, the documents necessary for the application, the systems that are qualified for the rebate and other practical information.

Austria: Solar Thermal Roadmap 2020 (2009)
