Solar Thermal: It’s Hot Again! (2008)
This presentation was created by Bill Guiney of Johnson Controls. It covers the benefits of soalr thermal installations, and takes a look at some of the various aspects of the technology that makes solar thermal possible.
The presentation suggests that solar thermal water heating is best designed to carry 50-80% of the heat load, and that customers and installers should generally rely on their performance modeling projections. Such designs as the copper flat plate collector are proven winners when used for active solar systems. Solar air conditioning is a bourgeoning application, but applications such as pool heating have been proven effective.
