This white paper was written by William Guiney of Johnson Controls. It looks at the opportunities and potential for long-run development and wide spread use of solar thermal, especially for pool heating, space heating, and cooling applications.
Of the various renewable energy sources that can be generated on-site, solar thermal is the most cost effective, according to the white paper. Potentially, solar thermal could save $8 billion in energy costs and reduce carbon emissions by 50 million tons annually. The long term market potential and government support prospects look good for solar thermal. The white paper ends with a few case studies demonstrating how solar thermal applications can help achieve climate neutrality for public and private institutions.
