After a brief history of solar thermal water heating in the United States, the document covers some of the main types of solar thermal water heating systems. These systems include solar batch heaters, antifreeze systems, and drain-back systems. After discussing the basics of systems construction the report ends with explanations of tanks and exchangers, controls and pumps, and finally valves and piping.
