Solar Energy Fundamentals: Solar Thermal (2010)

Submitted by Dan Fernandez on May 31, 2012

This presentation was created by the solar energy company Ontility. It covers solar thermal technology, applications, and the basics of the science that make solar thermal possible.

Solar thermal takes the radiation from the sun and turns it into controlled heat for practical use, which is made possible by the heat differential, or ΔT. Solar thermal can be used for both small scale residential applications and large scale commercial applications. Some of the most common applications are pool heating, solar cooling, and process heat. Almost all solar thermal systems all utilize collectors and heat exchangers.
