Intersolar Europe Conference 2012: Technology News and Round-table Discussion
From 13 to 15 June 2012, solar thermal professionals from all over the world will, once again, gather in Munich, Germany, to attend the international solar trade fair Intersolar Europe. The fair’s German organiser, the Solar Promotion GmbH, expects around 80,000 industry professionals from 150 countries. The booths of solar thermal companies will be set up in halls B1 and B2. Floor plans are available online. The related Solar Thermal Conference will take place just one day before the trade fair starts on 12 June.
When the key note speakers address the audience at this year’s opening session, it will be all about the future of global solar heating and cooling. Jörg Mayer, Secretary General of the German solar industry association BSW Solar, will present the “German industry’s solar thermal strategy until 2030”. Ashraf Kraidi, Senior Export at the Regional Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (RCREEE), will highlight new strategies to promote solar thermal markets in the Arab region.
Harald Drück, Conference Chair and Researcher from the Institute for Thermodynamics and Thermal Engineering (ITW), University of Stuttgart, explains the new approach as follows: “This year, the solar thermal conference programme is focusing on specific technical trends in plenary sessions.” There will be no simultaneously running forums in the afternoon. The first set of speeches will place the emphasis on new developments in solar thermal technology. The second part will include a round-table discussion with the title: “PV Heating – Threat or Option?” Solar thermal and PV experts will debate whether solar electricity or solar heat is going to be the best option for hot water and heating demand in the future.
