History of Solar Thermal in Peru (2011)
This is a presentation made during the UNEP (United Nations Environment Programme) Regional Workshop of Solar Thermal Water Heating in Chile in June 2011, organised by the UNEP (United Nations Environment Programme) and UNDP (United Nations Development Programme).
The presentation, by Ing. Abel César Gutiérrez Ramos from the company Termoinox, reviews the solar market in Peru. The country has considerable levels of solar radiation in all parts of the territory. Solar water heaters are already used in some regions with quite some success. There are more than 38,700 systems installed in all the country, 94% of it in the Arequipa region.
Lack of certification and policies are seen as the main barriers for market development. The presentation ends with case studies of solar thermal systems used industry, hotels, mining, pool heating, among other.
