Glasses for Solar Energy II: Solar Thermal Energy (2012)
This presentation was created by Rui M. Almeida of Lehigh University. It focuses on the use of glass in solar thermal energy applications and systems.
Glass is used in solar thermal systems primarily in concentrating solar power setups and passive solar thermal designs. Optical concentration, which allows solar thermal systems to utilize more focused solar energy than ordinarily reaches the earth’s surface, is an important feature of up scaling solar thermal systems. This presentation is a good example of how various technologies can benefit solar thermal, and how solar thermal’s widespread adoption could be a boon to various industries.
