Getting into Hot Water in the United States: The Case of EnerWorks (2011)
This case study was written by Ryan Walter of Ryerson University and was published by the Entrepreneurial Practice Review. It is a business case study on the beginnings of the expansion of Canadian based solar thermal hot water heating company EnerWorks.
EnerWorks truly began when it secured its first contract to commercial and residential systems to the Drake Solar landing community in Alberta, Canada. EnerWorks has had their greatest successes in their product offerings, due to collaborating with local universities to improve and expand on the technology of their systems. Their greatest challenges have been in marketing, due to problems in defining what and who the “green customer” really is; and also in establishing proper distribution channels.
