Europe: 2011 Conferences dedicated to Solar Heating and Cooling

In Europe, only a few conferences focus exclusively on solar heating and cooling in 2011. Most events combine both solar thermal technology and photovoltaics, with two-thirds of the schedule being reserved for solar electricity and only one third for solar thermal. Please check the event calendar for more information about these events. The few events in 2011 that deal only with solar heating and cooling (and have been included in the event calendar, too) are listed in the following:

The 2nd SMEThermal Conference, dedicated exclusively to the manufacturing of collectors, absorbers and tanks, is going to take place in Berlin on 10 February 2011. SMEthermal is a unique, international event bringing together material suppliers, specialists in automation and production technology, and manufacturers of collectors, absorbers and tanks. The entire conference will be held in English. You will find its schedule attached.

The 1st Solar Process Heat Conference in Wels, Austria, on 3 and 4 March 2011, will be part of the World Sustainable Energy Days 2011. The aim is to present technological solutions, market reports and best practice examples, and to discuss strategies on how to expand the market for solar process heat globally. The conference will be held in both English and German. You will find its schedule attached.

The 21st Symposium Solar Thermal Technology is going to start on 11 March 2011 at the former German monastery Banz, Bad Staffelstein, and will run until the 13th. Main topics: latest technological developments, but also aspects of market development, solar architecture and system integration. The conference language is German.

The 4th Solar Air-Conditioning Conference is going to be held in Larnaca, Cyprus, between 12 and 14 October 2011. Planners, architects, engineers, scientists and manufacturers are invited to learn more about system design and simulation, practical experiences, as well as technological developments of components such as water chillers or recoolers. The conference language is English. Deadline for the submission of abstracts is 27 February 2011.

The 5th European Solar Thermal Energy Conference (estec) is going to take place in Marseilles, France, on 20 and 21 October 2011. Key topics: reports on major solar thermal markets, how building construction will look like in the future, solar cooling and air-conditioning, system solutions, and standards & certifications. For the first time, estec is going to be held in the South of France, which means it will focus particularly on markets in Southern Europe and the Mediterranean southern shores. Conference languages are English and French. Deadline for the submission of abstracts is 7 February 2011. For more information and paper submissions: http://www.estec2011.org
