Bard College Shines (2012)

This case study was written by Gerhard Klier of EarthKind Solar. It details an installation project at Bard College in New York that was undertaken with funds from the Recovery Act.
Two solar thermal hot water heating systems were installed in residential dorms on campus, along with an advanced monitoring system. The grant from New York and the Recovery Act covered 90% of the installation costs. This installation is part of a larger commitment by Bard College to use utilize sustainable energy resources. The systems cover about 85% of the hot water needs of the students in the buildings, and Bard College expects to save up to $10,000 annually.
